What: A business delegation trip to Bangkok, Thailand, organized in collaboration with the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Participants from the German pet industry will gain in-depth insights into Thailand’s pet industry and its growth trends. Additionally, approved participants will have the chance to showcase their businesses to potential Thai partners, fostering connections with prospective customers and exploring partnership opportunities.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
Why: Thailand is one of the fastest-growing markets for pet supplies in Southeast Asia and globally. The popularity of pets in Thailand has driven significant market growth, with an expected market volume of approximately USD 2.2 billion in 2024, reflecting a 12.4% increase from the previous year. According to Euromonitor forecasts, the pet market in Southeast Asia is expected to grow to USD 5 billion by 2028. Thailand and Indonesia are experiencing double-digit annual growth rates. This growth offers excellent opportunities for German companies aiming to expand their business in the region.
Who: This delegation travel is targeted to German companies active in the pet industry being interested in business opportunities within the Thai pet market. The number of participants is limited.
Where: The event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand.
Costs: The project is part of the BMWK Market Development Program for SMEs (German: KMU) and is subject to De-Minimis regulations. The companies’ contribution for participating in the project depends on the size of the company:
- 500 EUR (net) for companies with an annual revenue of less than 2 million EUR and fewer than 10 employees
- 750 EUR (net) for companies with an annual revenue of less than 50 million EUR and fewer than 500 employees
- 1,000 EUR (net) for companies with an annual revenue of 50 million EUR or more, or 500 employees or more
Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs need to be covered by the participants. Individual consulting services for all participants will be certified in accordance with the EU’s De-Minimis regulation.
